The Amber Grains Difference
The Amber Grains product line was first launched in the 1980s, with Amber Grains Elite coming to market in 2001. Since then, the Amber Grains line has been supplying the highest quality equine products to our region ever since. The needs of both horse and rider have changed over time. Of course, the understanding of equine nutritional needs, and the availability of different products to best meet them, has developed and improved over time as well. We are always committed to learning the latest, proven research relating to equine nutrition in the same way we are committed to our mission of service. What has never changed, and will never change, is our commitment to providing the Best Value Feed Solutions.
This means:
- We only use fixed formulas. We will never change a formula or compromise nutritional quality based on price or cheaper ingredients.
- We only use high quality fiber ingredients such as beet pulp, soybean hulls, timothy grass, and alfalfa meal.
- We always make our equine feeds (and all other feeds) in an ionophore-free facility, and source all of our ingredients from ionophore-free vendors as well.
- We never use ‘filler’ ingredients to complete a ration. Items like peanut hulls (often hidden as roughage products on an ingredient list) are high in crude fiber but low in good, digestible fiber (and other nutrients).
- We never use by-product proteins with inferior amino acid profiles.
- We always include a proprietary blend of gut health microbes in our equine blends, including gastric buffers, probiotics, and microencapsulated yeast cultures.
Additionally, as part of our commitment to top quality nutrition, we seek to maximize the calorie-density of all of our formulas for their class and type. Our controlled-NSC feeds are more energy-dense than other senior feeds with the same protein and fat specs. Our performance feeds for horses in heavy work are among the most energy-dense on the market, anywhere. When you feed a bag of Amber Grains, you can be sure that we are fulfilling all of these promises to you and your animals, and that you are feeding them the most nutritious equine feed on the market, pound for pound.
